1.
Personal Renewal (Top) – in
our individual relationships with God.
This is the act of evaluating our lives and renovating our
hearts when change is needed to better follow the Saviour.
“Renewed” people have clear, unobstructed relationships with
Jesus Christ where sin is dealt with and Christ is on the throne
of the believer’s life. This “rightness” in our relationship
with God leads us to be true worshippers of God. Activities that
promote renewal can include getting involved in a Bible Study or
small group, reading a book of the Bible and meditating on its
truths, challenging yourself to read the Bible in a year,
updating your prayer list and any other activities that bring
you closer to knowing God.
2.
Powerful Prayer (Top) –
getting beyond a prayer life that has plateaued in order to
experience new heights in our prayer lives personally and
corporately. Prayer is the
lifeline that connects us to Almighty God. God speaks to us
through His Word (The Bible), in the little suggestions in our
hearts, and sometimes in more direct and dramatic ways. The way
we connect to God is through prayer. Jesus spent hours in prayer
each day before he went about His day. If we develop stronger
prayer lives and prayer ministries, we will experience God in a
more personal and intimate way.
3. Purposeful Evangelism
(Top) – intentionally introducing
others to the joys of having a relationship with Jesus Christ.
We want to be an outward-looking
church, desiring and equipped to share our faith in Jesus Christ
with the needy world around us. As Jesus commanded His 12
disciples “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them
in the Name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
and teaching them everything I have commanded you. And surely, I
am with you always.” (Matthew 28: 19-20), so we are commanded to
share in the good news of God’s redeeming love for us. We will
use various methods to: (a) help people build their own personal
testimonies of how a relationship with Jesus Christ has changed
their lives; and (b) help people know how to confidently and
naturally share the Gospel with another person.
4. Persevering
Discipleship (Top) – learning
to follow hard after Jesus Christ with our whole heart, mind,
soul, and body.
Discipleship is all about following Jesus and becoming more and
more like Him. We do this by getting to know Him better, and by
serving others. Discipleship should be an ongoing, lifelong
process for the believer as we work out what it really means to
follow Christ’s lead in every area of life.
5.
Pervading Love (Top)
– wrapping it all up in an
atmosphere of love, where people can feel special whether they
are visitors, longtime members, or anyone in between.
We want to purposefully increase the
atmosphere of mutual love, fellowship and sense of welcome in
our congregation until every attender can both give and receive
this love that has its basis in Jesus Christ. God’s greatest
commandments are to “love the Lord your God with all your heart,
and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all
your strength. And love your neighbour as yourself.” (Mark 12:
30-31) As believers in Christ, we are all children of God and
therefore, all part of the same family. To show God’s love, we
show love to others in small and big ways by the things we say
and do. |
