Welcome
to
Olivet
Baptist
Church!
Please browse around our website to discover what our
congregation’s life and ministry is all about. Our
church’s main mission is “to be and do what matters to
Jesus Christ”.
My
name is Bruce Jones, and together with my wife, Ruth, and
our children, Bethany and Caleb, we have been ministering here
since July of 1998. Please refer to the Who We
Are page containing our purpose statement and doctrinal
beliefs for any particulars concerning our beliefs and
priorities or feel free to contact me at bruce.olivetfb@bmts.com.
Thanks again for visiting us online. We hope to see you
in person someday!
We are so thankful to
God for His gracious guidance and care over the years! As
we celebrate Olivet’s 67th anniversary this fall,
we can rejoice in the fact that He has led us every step of
the way so far—and we can trust Him to continue leading
until He takes us home. I love the words of Psalm 48:14,
where the writer says, “For this God is our God for ever and
ever; He will be our Guide even to the end.” One day the
end of this earthly life will come, but the guidance of
Almighty God will continue into eternity for those whose
trust has been placed in the Saviour, Jesus Christ!
As you will be able to
see in various ways around our church and its publications, we
are excited to introduce a new church logo! This logo shows
clearly the facts that the cross of Jesus Christ is our central
and preeminent focus and we are a family together under His
leadership. We have a little gift we would like to give you if
you would be able to come to one of our services. Each member of
your family can have one of our new “Olivet Purpose Pens” to
take home. They will be readily available here at the church
each week.
You will also notice
changes to the visitor cards in the pew if you attend a
service. We have streamlined the cards so they include our most
basic contact and ministry information, a place for visitors to
record their visit, and requests for visitation or other
ministry information along with a small space for questions or
prayer requests. This gives more information in a more
organized way than before. This fall we are also introducing a
new initiative that we trust will help newer attenders get to
know our congregation better and have some of their questions
answered. We have published a number of information brochures
about various aspects of our church life, history, beliefs and
ministries. These will be available for anyone to take in
order to learn more about who we are and how to get involved at
Olivet.
Finally, this fall we
are also introducing a new way for you to keep track of your
sermon notes so they don’t just end up going into the recycle
bin. For $7.00 (which simply covers the cost of materials) you
can purchase a sermon notes binder that is perfectly sized to
store your sermon notes and is personalized with your name on
the front. We will have a sign up sheet in the foyer for the
next number of weeks for you to order and our administrative
assistant, Sandra Mullin will make sure the sermon notes are
appropriately 3-hole punched so they will fit into your binder
each week.
We thought you would
like to know some of the little ways we have been “tweaking”
things around Olivet Baptist these days. We trust these changes
will help this church become all that God wants it to be. You
are an important reason why we exist and, if there’s anything we
can do to help you on your spiritual journey, we would love to
answer any questions or meet with you personally.
May you experience the
empowering presence of the Holy Spirit this year in your
personal life and your family and may you know the great
blessing of the God who loves you!
With my love in Christ,
Bruce Jones
