Children's
Ministries
Children are very important to us
at Olivet Baptist Church. In the Bible, as we read about Jesus and
his ministry on earth, it is very evident that Jesus loves the little
children and so should we! We have had a Children’s Ministry
Coordinator on staff since 2001 and Ruth
Jones has been fulfilling this role since 2004. She does a tremendous
job keeping all of the children’s programs running and all of the
volunteers organized in this intense and exciting ministry.

Kids Church and More!
KidZone (Mondays after school) - Children aged JK to Grade 6
are all welcome at our KidZone program which
runs Mondays after school. It is a free program and run by nearly 20
volunteer members of the church. The program includes a nutritious
snack, lively songs, an interesting Bible story, some small group
discussion times, a rotation of fun activity centers the children choose
for themselves, games, crafts, drama, baking, sports, special days and
more!
It
starts at 3:30 pm. and winds down at 5:30 pm.
Children
must register, so please contact us if you
would like to come one or two days, or the whole year!
KidsQuest - Jeff Higginson and Sandra
Mullin are taking the children, (Grades 1 through 5), on a 12 week
Sunday School Adventure, called Jesus 4U. this
adventure will use Child friendly Bible dramas, Fun Crafts, Interesting
games, and Life lessons. We will introduce the Children to Jesus from
Christmas to Easter with special highlights of his Miracles and applying
their principals to the children's lives. Come and join this great
adventure Sunday mornings starting at 10:00am, see you there?
Joan and Bea & Peggy are having a great time with the preschool children focusing on how God is our creator and God made each one of us special and unique. How he knows all about us, How he gave us Families to love and take care of us, and how he gave us friends. God provides for us all. we welcome new children all through the year, so come and enjoy.
During
Church Time
- We minister
to children in three ways:
1.
Nursery and Toddler room available throughout the whole service.
These rooms are well-equipped with toys and books for the toddlers;
cribs, change table, and rocking chairs for the babies. There are
always two adults plus junior helpers to supervise these young ones.
2.
Kids Church for children who are 3 to 11 years old.
This
special time which includes a puppet show, games, crafts, a Bible story,
and snack begins part way through the church service. There are always
two adults and one to two young helpers to supervise during this
time. During the summer months this time is expanded to a 60
to 75 minute program for children in Grade 5 and under.
3.
Pew packs are made available each week for those children who are
too old for Kids church. Individual ziplock
bags include a variety of activity sheets and pencil crayons to keep
children occupied during the “message” time.
Vacation
Bible School [VBS]
– Each year (since June 2000) during the last week of school we run an
action packed, fun filled and exciting VBS program. This is always
the highlight of our Children’s Ministry year! We run after school
from 3:30 to 6:00 pm. A bus picks the children up at the Meaford
schools and brings them to the church. They are divided into 8
groups according to their grade, and then served a nutritious
snack. Next we all come together for the worship rally time.
After this exciting time each group rotates through 4 activity
centers: Bible story; fun games; creative crafts; and the verse
room & the VBS store. Before we know it, it is time to go home,
and wait for the adventure to begin again the next day!!
